Brakes..... what brakes...
Hey folks... bought a 2001 bugeye wrx wagon today, and when i drove it home the brakes felt like they had grease on em..!!, no bite... just a kinda slow slowdown, although i didn't jump on em in case there is summat not right... My question is... What should the brakes on the 2002 wrx be like? on my old 1999 wrx they were not brilliant at all, and i was hoping that now they would be a tad better!! If this is normal for the new shape wrx's what do you suggest that i do about it?.. pads? discs? any help would be very gratefully recieved...
Thanks people..

Yeah, if it was from the dealer take it back.
I have a MY03 WRX, and the standard brakes when i had em were fine. I didnt think they were bad in any way, and certainly pulled the car up fine.
IMHO, they should pee all over your classic as standard i think.

Not to offend you, but it is people like your goodself who make the car market like it is today. You have paid good money for the car, and bought it in good faith so if the brakes are not up to it send it back and get if fixed.
The only thing to consider has it already had new pads when it was erviced before you had it and they are still bedding in?

I'd have a look at the discs - with the weather we have been having recently they may have a lot of surface rust on them if the car has been standing outside for a while. Shouldnt take long driving the car to get them clean though. The brakes on a bugeye feel much more assisted than on a classic - even compared to the 4 pot classics. Should bite without as much pedal pressure.
Like the others say though - if it doesnt feel right take it back !

JUst back from the dealer that i got the car from, and he told me that the pads in the car are aftermarket pads that were in the car when he bought it, and are just about new... so he is going to change them for original equipment ones..so hopefully that will sort that out.... now if i can just get a tad more power....
