Question Which Tyres?

Having seen the latest autocar, I'm tempted to go for some eagle F1's. I have had S0-2's in the past and liked them. Are the S0-3's better? Anyone had experience of how these tyres compare with each other or indeed with my third option the Toyo's T1-s or R. Comments much appreciated. Ta.

The SO-3's are nothing like as good as the SO-2's, I heard this from a couple of sources. I've just had some T1 R's fitted, only 1/2 hour an ago. Was considering the F1's myself. I paid £99 ea same place wanted £112 for the F1's.

Don't think that because whichever tyre did well in that particular test, that the results cross over to a Subaru. We have been doing a huge amount of tyre testing recently and found somewhat different results as a Subaru asks the front tyres to do a lot more work than a rwd car does. We have even found that characteristics of a particular tyre in different sizes can vary as well and in some cases even tyres in the same size can vary markedly in their performance depending on their construction.

So, any suggestions then Mike?

Had F1's on mine for some time now. Replaced the standard Bridgestones. They seem better wearing, better in the wet and less tramlining.

Question

Mike: 215/40 17's on a UK classic, standard suspension other than uprated rear ARB?

I hope Prodrive aren't biased towards Pirelli or will they say Michelin came out top

Mike ,
Ta for your input.
I have an STi4 RA, it's on the standard 16" wheels.
Tyre size being 205/50/16 I believe.

Difficult one as it's a long time since we did any testing on either 16 or 17" tyres. In my experience the PZero works well in both sizes and gave the best feeling and balance of any of the tyres available at the time. Doesn't mean that they'll suit everyone though.

All our recent testing has been on 18" and there is not much to beat the Nero in 225/40x18 unless you want to abuse the car around a track.

I personally always look for maximum steering feel in my tyres above most other things. How do the Nero and Michelin Pilot Sports do in this respect in your opinion?

Many thanks
