Default Standard WRX W&T, to STI W&T

A couple of months back I ( or should I say, Simon RRH and I ) swapped my standard WRX wheels and tyres, with STI8 ones, they have the sticky Bridgestone tyres forgotten which ones, but anyway...

When Im stopping for lights or a junction from speed, my car has a mind of its own, it steers where it likes.

You have to hang on tight to keep it in a straight line, its not the brakes they are quite new and have been behaving themselves, its since I changed the wheels and tyres.

What is it ?

Also Ive noticed when washing them, that there is more space between the wheel and the brakes.

They are on the right way, Ive checked, is it just a trait of these wheels and tyres ?

are they asymmetrical? do they have arrows on the sidewall giving which way they're supposed to roll?

if you've got 'em the wrong way round then they'll be all over the place - especially in the wet when you need them

I dont think they have arrows on them, I shall look....

Right.

They are REO70's, no arrows, just print saying OUTSIDE.

presumably you've got this on the outside on all four corners?

how about pressure - do they need a different amount to your old wrx w&t? My eagle F1s I blow up to 1psi over handbook values and it makes them better / less flexible for the suspension etc

another thought - the offset's different for STi wheels as you've found - to clear the calipers. dunno how noticeable that is for ordinary driving...

You'll be running 225 tyres vs the 215 on the WRX, bound to tramline a tad more than before.

Ive never blown them up, they have never been checked.

What would you suggest in PSI, will it say on the tyre ?

I shall do it later.

try 33f & 31r to start & adjust a little if you feel it needs it

How worn are the tyres? Tramling tends to get worse as tread gets less.

Rev, Mr RRH assured me they were as new, the wire coming through the edges was normal, he said.........

And as for pressures I had FR18,FL28,RL30 AND RR33.....nice mix.

No nails, but when I tightened the valves with the thingie on the end of my Halfrauds guage, the FR valve turned 10-15 minutes.

So maybe this will help, havent gone on full test as yet, had a bit of a bo77ocking from the other half, so came straight home.

(Something along the lines of the " Pushing it " thread in General, and yes it was a Saxo, they like me.)

For a minute then I thought you were going to use No More Nails to inflate your tyres

I have Bridgestone S03's, and in the mornings they are all over the place until they warm up a bit

Depends on how new is new
Ive had these tyres on my Spec C from day one, they tramline like hell and
do have a mind of their own until you get past the greasy layer, they then improve and dont tramline anywhere near as bad, except in the wet going over white lines, but it isnt that bad compared to when they are new
You will have to grin and bear it until they are bedded in, which can take a few k btw

PS, you cant put these on the wrong way as when they are already on the alloys the outside is always outside, but you could get them on back to front.....

**** me I'd be through a hedge with that difference - especially across the front axle

And you wonder why it handles funny?

I can tell when mine have dropped 1psi with the feedback on the suspension - the potholes create a clunking noise through the system rather than riding over them properly...

I set mine to 34F, 32R and like the handling
