Default Skewing under Braking

Just a quick one really, had to hit the brakes really hard the other day on a straight. The car skewed about well bad I thought. Anyone else had this? Is something not setup right? The back end did a proper 'shimmy' under braking. Passenger commented on it too. Is it worth checking brake wear even though it was only serviced 3 months ago.

What year is your car mate and how fast were you going when you braked?

I've got an MY00 Impreza and have noticed that under heavy braking especially from high speed the back lifts and get very loose. Spooked me a bit at first but I know its coming now.

Time to invest in whiteline anti lift kit methinks

Your description is spot on as to how it feels. Mines an MY02 STI. It was a perfectly straight road and I hit brakes around 90.....crapped myself to be honest, its not what i would have expected from a 'performance' car. Whats that anti lift thing?

Not too sure but I would assume a search will give you the answer. I guess it just holds the back in check under heavy braking. I gather that Impreza have good grip due to 4wd but thier handling out of the box is in need of tweaking to get things just so.

Whiteline do very good suspension mods - anti roll bars and anti lift/dive kits.

I agree though, first time it happens its like wooooh steady on leslie!

Might be the tracking as well....some cars just do it...the BMW 330d estates used at work are seriously jittery under heavy braking at speed, in comparison my MY03 WRX scoob is a diamond!!
Never heard of an anti lift kit, can anyone enlighten us all??

The anti lift kit makes the back end squirm worse in my opinion.......
