Default bedding in new brakes

i have had new discs and pads fitted - pagid.

i have always used these and find them the best.

i usually bed in gently for about 100 miles.

i started the bedding in process, but since about 30 miles i have had to get a serious move on due to all manner of things at work going pair shaped.

the majority of the last 70 miles have been pretty hard and on b-roads.

i have suffered alot of fade and am now wondering if i have cooked the pads!

they seem unhappy to "grab" on like the previous sets and i think i have glazed them. they also travel on at junctions when hot.

i am now wondering wether i have totally screwed these pads or wether in time they will come good??

over to the panel!!!

would suggest you remove the pads for inspection and see if they show any signs of over-heating (shiny to look at!!)...................you can sometimes recover them by rubbing down on some abrasive emery cloth, etc and re-bedding!!

does sound like you've 'cooked' them!!

i was very gentle with them for the 80 miles or so after the intitial problems and since then have covered a further 40 or so and in that time i have performed a couple of 100mph to 20 hard stops.

they seem to be performing fine now. although i have not driven the car as hard or for as long as previously, the fade that i would have been getting by driving in the that manner has gone.

i will give the car a proper, hard 5-10 mile caning at some point and see how they have shaped up - but they do feel alot better.

hopefully the problem is now solved - thanks for your reply Alyn, its appreciated.
