You can remove the rubbers in the wheelarch lip for starters. This can be done by removing screw in plastic trim on sill and then just pulling the rubber off. This will only give a a few mil extra space but that may be enough without taking more serious measures.

Are you absolutely certain it's the wheels? I've 18"s on mine and I was getting a similar noise going over bumps, cornering hard and when carrying passengers.

Turns out it was worn suspension bushes when inspected by a local garage and they will be replaced at the next service.

Interestingly enough, I reported it to the local dealer when getting the car serviced while under warranty. Their response : "What noise? Didn't happen when we had the car but we'll file a running report".

I live in Central Scotland...

What's the offset?

Loads of peeps run 215 and even 225 on a classic without any rubbing.

I tend to agree with Jush, when I fitted 18's to mine the tyre started to rub on the rubber trim, certainly a few mil to gain by removing these.
