Default Sti Wheels on WRX, differing handling

Recently had a blow out with my NSF tyre and to cut a long story short rather than fitting one tyre decided to fit a full new set. I borrowed a mates set of wheels and removed mine, now my car feels totally differant in the corners, my car is a My01 with STi8/9/10 wheels. I actually prefer the way the car now handles and Im curious if it has to do with the differing offset or perhaps the size differance?
If I liked the look of these wheels at all I would prolly just buy a set of em, but alas I hate the things LOL
Anyone shed any light on this?

Size difference ? If your mates wheels are larger then to retain the same overall rolling radius of the wheel the tyres must be lower profile. Lower profile means the tyre sidewalls are shorter, which usually translates to stiffer and therefore under load there will be less roll and firmer handling.
