Not sure about performance differences between OE and 3rd-party pads, but certainly 3rd-party are usually cheaper for the at least the same performance as OE. Never changed pads on their own, so can't comment on how noticeable any performance difference will be.
Pads are all dusty, but I've heard Mintex are more so than others Fereodo, new EBC for example.
Speak to Alyn @ AS Performance for some advice.

I got 4 pot discs and pads for £120. They are 3rd party and do the same job as the vented/drilled and odd looking pad things that were on there before.
Discs were from SAP @ £90 and are well regarded I believe from some on SN. Pads were £30 and are made by APEC/APEX or summat and seem absolutely fine to me and I'm running 275ish.
Can't get bigger discs under 16s so these will do fine until funds allow a bigger disc. Not too sure if its worth spending £300 on discs and pads compared to performance. May as well save and go large later!
