Temporary tyre carnage?

Temporary tyre carnage?
I'm about to get my classic's alloys refurbed at Elite Wheels near Reading. They lend you a spare set while they take up to 5 days getting yours back to their original state. Here's my potential problem. I'm sure I saw on here a while ago (but can't find it now - aint that always the case?!) that if the temporary tyres I'm loaned are even marginally worn to different degrees - front vs rear - it could bugger up the diff. Even if it's just for a few days. Apologies if I'm regurgitating something someone's already spent ages explaining.
Cheers mates!
