Tyre pressures for track day

Just bought a 99MY with std 16inch wheels & Potenza tyres. I'm about to do my first track day in the car and am wondering about best tyre pressures.
The manual says 33/28 front/rear but 10-15% up on that still seems a bit low esp at the rear. Anyone out there got any advice? I was thinking of starting with 37 at the front and 35 at the rear.

High m8, i did trackday 3 weeks ago, i started off 34/30 f/r did one session and checked how the rubber was wearing, you can tell how far over the edge of the tread is worn, if its gone over you need more pressure. you could do with getting a pressure gauge, check em when they warm, its o.k over inflating them but take into consideration the pressure goes up the more heat you get in them. i went with a mate who races in the porsche cup an he give me those pointers, i ended up with 38/35 f/r but the tyres didnt go off till towards the end of each 20 min session, depends on track nd temp. hope this helps, have a good day on yhe track. cheers Lee

I run lower pressures at track days than on the road - I found that after a couple of heavy corners I was losing grip...I think because the tyres heated up, increasing the pressure beyond optimum.
Depends on driving style & the track I guess - I've only done Nurburgring, and I'm not the best driver in the world

hi dowser was told that myself as well, but it just felt a little ropey until tyres got het ito them to increase pressure, hey bet the ring was awsome, what car did you do it

Its worth checking that when you 'up' the pressures for a trackday you don't go above the max inflation pressure written on the sidewall.
On my last trackday I started with the pressures about 38f/36r.When I came off after the first session the fronts had gone up to about 46 psi, the max inflation pressure on the sidewall was 44psi so I was exceeding it while giving the tyres major grief.This didn't seem like a good idea to me so I lowered the pressures a couple of psi.
