Question Tyre fitting & wheel alignment - recommendations ?

Please can anyone help.

The time has come to put some new rubber on my MY02 STi7 (I already have the tyres) Can anyone recomend a reputable place to have this done - and also have the wheel alignment checked/set up at the same time. I don't mind travelling to get it done right (within reason) - I am near Rotherham in South Yorkshire.

Also - does anyone have thoughts on keeping the standard alignment settings - or are there benefits to be had (handling/tyre wear) from modifying the set up. I must admit though - it feels pretty good as it is - which I assume is standard ?

Thanks,
Scoobsti

scoobyclinic should be able to help.
get in touch with any of the south yorkshire crew as well, peccy, cheesy, jasemac et al, are all well into the scene up there.
I had my geometry done last october, after having 4 new toyos fitted, and what a revalation! Fantastic poise, grip and response into corners, great feel under heavy load and braking, BUT much more tyre wear on inside of both front tyres.
I have just had to replace my 2 fronts as they were illegal on the inside edges, also had the alignment redone, as it had been knocked out.
It is worth having done having said that though, as the improvement to the handling is pronounced.

cw42 - thanks for the reply - I will give Scoobyclinic a call. I haven't had the car that long so I am still learning.

Your comments make me wonder if my car's geometry is not standard, as turn in already seems quite sharp with little understeer - except on slower corners. The insides of the front tyres are also wearing much more than anything else is. I will speak to Scoobyclinic and see how they can help.

Thanks,

Don't use Ap tyres in parkgate for the alignment, they set mine up at xmas and were all over the place with their settings.

In tolerance my ar*e, they wern't even close to their very wide tolerances.

before any slanging match, i've got the printout.

front axle left before -1 20 target 0 25 after -1 05
right before -1 20 target 0 25 after -0 22

needless to say handled terrible. reset it myself to full negative, all smiles again.

Eddie - thanks for the advice - this is why I want to find somewhere that will treat my rims with a bit of care and can check the geometry (properly) at the same time.
