Cleaning STI V 4-pot calipers?
#1
I've just acquired a set of second-hand STI V fout pots. The calipers are in dire need of cleaning (thick layer of brake dust). Is it just a case of soapy hot water?
Does anyone have a recommendation on what to clean them with.
I would then also like to paint them in silver or red.
All your help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers, Marcus

I cleaned mine with wire brush attachments in an electric drill then painted them with Hammerite primer and then 2 coats of Hammerite Smooth paint in red and then painted the lettering in Hammerite white.
It has stood up to brushing with alloy wheel cleaners and pressure washing.
It seemed a lot less hassle than those caliper lacquer paints advertised and have loads of paint left for more jobs.
Andy.
