hehehe
hello folks. I've just ordered some fantastic new OZ Prodrive 18" wheels in gold for my P1. I am a little confused over which tyre size I should be running.
The car is running prodrive sport P1 geometry settings, stock billy dampers and standard P1 ebach progressive springs.
I guess the options are :
225x40x18s
or
225x35x18s
Can anyone suggest which I should use ?
I am considering getting yet more Toyo Proxies as they have been my fave for the last 3 years or so.
Also can Mike Wood (ala prodrive) please comment on which tyres have been found to work best to avoid rubbing the arches of the car.
Should the rubber strips round the edge of the wheelarches be removed to allow for the larger wheel ?
Lots of questions...but I know you guys have the answers.
Regards
Ian.

Ian,
Given the number of complaints regarding the quality of the paint on P1's, and based on my own observations regarding paint degredation on 3 Imprza Turbos over the last 3 1/2 years, I think that removing the paint protection rubber strips on the rear arches may not be such a good idea.
It may allow you to run a slightly bigger tyre, but after 12 months will all the paint still be intact along the lip?
The forward lower corners of the front doors and bottom back edge of the front wings are suceptible to the paint chipping, caused by the front tyres. Given the fact that the rear arch lips are so much closer to the rear tyres than the bottoms of the front doors are to the front tyres, then the problem would probably be more prevalent.
Just a thought.

I went for 215/35 Proxes...and so far I love 'em. They're just below a 205/50x16 (a 225/35 is just above) in rolling diameter, but closer than a 215/40x17.
I believe MikeWood stated that the only 225 wide tire that'll fit the scoob in 18" is the P-Zero.
A mate of mine has the P1 wheel with S02's in 225...which is a fuggin tight fit...it's a matter of hit'n'miss really, either it works...or it doesn't.

The only tyre that we have found to fit without clearance issues are 225/35ZR18 Pirelli PZero. The suspension was tuned to suit both this and the 17" PZero and gives excellent prformance in all conditions.
The best move would be to order them already fited from your dealer.
