Hi all,

I recently purchased a set of Team Dynamics Monza's from another scooby
owner. He had them on his car for over 10,000 miles. I got them at a very
good price so I couldn't refuse.

Since putting them on I realise that they must be the wrong offset as they
foul the wheel arches with a load in the back of the car or on large bumps. I fitted them with 215/45/17 SO2's.

Any suggestions??

Paul.

Take one off , measure the offset and compare it with your old wheels . Put something flat across the inner edge of the rim and measure the distance to the centre of the rim where it sits against the brake disc . You should've asked me yesterday .

You are using the wrong tyre size, should be 215/40/17 or 205/45/17.

Try removing the rubber trim on the rear arch lip.

Paul,

I think the Team Dynamics wheels have an offset of ET45. This will cause rubbing problems when the car is at full bump!

SS, is correct about the tyre size!!!

I was using wheels with an offset of ET45, and using 215/40R17 tyres, and I got the rubbing noise when I had four people int he car, and going round roundabouts (ie - full bump)

I took off the rubber lips over the rear arches and it solved the problem! Using 205/45R17 will help as well!

Hope this helps
Andy

Yeah the wheel offset is et45. I'm using SO2's 215/45/17 as I think this is the onlt size available in the Bridgestones?? not sure.

I had no problems today when i was in the car on my own but when I had 2 others in it yesterday it fouled going round corners and over bumps. I removed the rubber trim and it has reduced but not stopped.

Thanks for the help guys.

Paul.

Paul,

You're right the Bridgestone comes in the 215/40R17 size and is not available in the 205/45R17 size.

If it's still clipping it's worth looking at the 205/45R17's when you have to change them!

Might be worth looking at other makes. I know some people are very happy with the PZero's which are available in the 205/45R17 size.

There are other makes, but avoid Dunlop SP9000's (They're too hard, give poor grip int he wet and dry - But they lasted 25,000 miles with about 3mm left on the rears, when the fronts were gone!!!)

I had a similar problem with a set of Team Dynamics wheels. They fitted one scooby fine but on the next they fouled the wheelarch slightly.
Removing the trim on the inner lip of the wheel arch may do the trick. If not then
changing the tyre size from 45 to 40 aspect may do it.
If you cannot change them OR if it does not work, then the only other solution is to carefully bend the inner lip of the wheel arch from its normal L shape upwards into a U shape around the top of the wheel arch.

You can get 215/40/17's in SO2's as thats what ive got fitted to mine, the 45's are definately wrong and you need to change them really, or use them on a track day
