Question

I’ve recently bought a 99T Impreza but unfortunately the dealer put the crapest tyres you can imagine on the car! So I need some new decent tyres, are the Bridgestone S02's the best tyre to go for? I want good handling / grip, tyre life isn’t as important but obviously its nice to get both if you can.

Cool

I would suggest a search as this has been done a million billion zillion times already, and I don't think anything's changed recently

Most popular tyres (at least in 16") are

Bridgestone Potenza S02 Pole Position and
Toyo Proxy T1/s (I Think thats the full name)

From memory, I remember peoples opinion being - SO2's have a little more wet grip, Proxies have a more progressive breakaway (and are substantially cheaper). I run S02's

Try GY Eagle F1's . Nearly as good as SO2's but a lot cheaper . Fantastic in the wet .

Eagle F1's IMHO

Great in the dry - unbleievably good in the wet. i am on my second set and it would take a lot to convince me to change to another tyre.

Leon - I had Proxes on my STI 5 which I was very happy with. Good all round and progressive. Just replaced with SO2 PPs which are aslo v good but but generally dont detect any noticeable difference on road between them. Unless they last longer or I find them better on track (track day Sunday) I would go for the Proxes purely on value.

Can anyone tell me whether I'll get more mileage out of F1's or Toyo's? Normal roads, occasionally enthusiastic driving?
