DIY wheel scuff repair - any ideas ?
#1
Has anyone had any success doing a DIY curb-scuff repair on the alloys ?
I have just tried rubbing one down with fine wire wool with water, and the rim has come up very smooth, but very grey.
My next step is to use touch-up paints from Halfords to prime it, spray it silver, then laquer it.
Does this sound like a good idea ?

Have done similar in the past. Only trouble is that there are 45,467 different shades of silver and getting a match is a bugger.
Have used a touch up pencil for smaller scuffs (works better thinned down).

I was told silver Hammerite (sp?) is an ideal match so I got some last year but never got round to trying it . I'll blow the dust off the tin and try it this weekend. I will post the results here for you. Watch this space .
