Tyre Rotation

Read somewhere that you need to rotate the wheels every so often for even tyre wear.
Is this correct? and if so, how often should it be done, and would I need to get the tracking done each time I swopped the wheels round?
Many thanks, James

I too have often wondered about tyre rotation but can't be bothered to go through all the hassle. Just checked the (Original) tyres on my car and after nearly 9000 miles the front tyres have 5mm of tread left and the rear tyres have 6mm of tread left (Does this mean I drive like an old woman?? ). Just out of interest how much tread do these tyres have when new so I can estimate roughly how much longer they are going to last??

How often, depends how quickly they are wearing. Every time there is a wear differential of 1-2mm front to rear is a good guide.
Tracking, not necessary if it is correct to start with. They will need a bit of bedding in after you swap them around. You might find a bit of tramlining for a while.

Last time I swapped my tyres round I found a cut on the inner sidewall. Had to buy a new tyre! Much cheaper to keep your head in the sand.
Dave
So when you rotate your tyres do you swap front with rear or rear with rear and front with front or side to side
But I guess your buying 8 new tyres anyway?
When are you going to post some pics?

If you have'nt got rotational tyres(p-zero) you would swap opposite corner (NSF for OSR).
If you have rotational tyres(s02) you can only put the rears on the front and front on the rears
my fronts usually start to go first, so when they are half worn i swap them over.
