Default Uprating the brakes on MY96 16"s

Hi folks,

I would like some advice on what would be the first mod that I will have done to my car.

My brakes are terrible and succeed in making me poo myself whenever I seem to go out!

I need to change these, and soon.

Don't want to spend the Earth, but would rather do it properly.

What and where is the question.

I've had suggested '4 pots' from ANG (as it is close) but to be honest I haven't got a clue.

Thanks in advance.

Asif

I'd say your best bet is Subaru 4 pots. I saw a set go on here recently, where the asking price was £400. Other than that, I couldn't tell you what they go for.

Whilst you're upgrading you should also consider some decent pads, ie not the std Subaru stuff but something like Ferrodo DS2500 or Pagid RS4-2.1. Maybe even some Mintex 1144, or EBC Red. Cost of decent pads is £80 to £140. Then there's braided lines at £70 for the Goodridge stuff, or around £40 for a lesser known brand. Stick some decent brake fluid in with that lot and you can look forward to a few less scary moments. Those 2 pots are proper scary, mate.

I think that £400 might have included some decent pads, but not 100%.

Hello mate,

Knew I should have just written down what you told me last week! Do you think your mate Ang at ANG can source this stuff, or should I look in Scoobyshop or summat?

I take it the ones you saw go previous were second hand?

Cheers

Defo speak to Angie at AnG. I don't know if he'd be the best person to source the hardware, but it won't hurt to ask. (020) 8963-0333.

And yes, the set of 4-pot calipers were used, in the For Sale section.

Just give me a bell if you want to discuss further.
