My disks are starting to look tired, with a nice lip forming around the edge.
Seeing as I start my trackday career this year, I'd like some new grooved disks that other people trust on track.

What do you bunch recommend in the way of grooved disks. The options seem to be:

a) Scoobysport Pagid
b) Scoobymania Black Diamond
c) Tarox?

Have I missed any?

Cheers, Dave

Exclamation

From using mine purely on the roads, from what I hear on the BBS, and know from track days in my past...

Don't waste money on disks/pads for the standard set up. Bite the bullet and buy an AP/Brembo/Prodrive set up.

Regards,
Squizz.

I disagree - I run 1155 pads, Bremsport Grooved discs, BSB and braided lines, whole lot cost less than £300. No fade on road OR track, stopping power to make your brain hurt

I agree with GaryC on this one. I have had a set of Black Diamond grooved dicks fitted with Mintex 1155 pads and they are a BIG improvement over O/E.

Yet to have braided lines and brake support, but its next on my list.

The ultimate is £1500 worth of proper AP/Brembo calipers and discs if you can afford it.

I have no idea how others drive, I went for intermediate brake upgrades for track days, and am now regretting it.

Things I've noticed. (no science here, just what I've seen, no flames please)

Only those with 'big' brakes can brake at/past the braking points, others brake before.

With the disc/pad upgrades you won't last much more than 30 mins without judder/fade. Big brake boys can stay out until they run out of fuel!

Just my views, your mileage may vary, depending on how you drive, and how and when you brake.

Possibly true, but does anyone actually stay out on track for more than 30 minutes in one go?? I will do 10-15 laps then come in to let tyres, engine, brakes....and 'me' cool down. In those circumstances my brakes have never faded, and if anything, my tyres (SO2s) have seemed to go 'off' before I get and problems with brakes. Over 30 minutes of ten tenths driving will put a lot of stress on your road car, and you!

It is perfectly true, and obvious, that while my set up is an enormous improvement over standard, the AP/Brembo/Alcon kit will be another level beyond that, but I've never felt the need for it, and my brain hurts when I slam on now - I don't think it could take much more Add in £300 Vs £1500 it was a no-brainer for me, this side of a lottery win
