The Annual Winter Tyres Thread
#1
Hi All,
It's that time of year again - ski brochures hitting the doormat.
There were some lengthy threads last Nov/Dec on winter tyres, how did everyone get on with their choices?
Looks like I'll be spending 5 weeks trundling round the Alps & Dolomites this season :-D :-D, so I'll need something fairly decent, but still able to stand up to hacking around on autoroutes as well.
Looks like Vredestein Wintrac or Michelin Pilot Alpin might be good bets, but I know there are Bridgestone, Goodyear, and Toyo options, too. What have people found?
(PS MY00 on standard 16")
Cheers

Why use winter tires?
You don't like them on the Autobahn or autoroutes!!
Why not use Bridgestone S02-pp: it is not a winter tire, but it is very, very good in the wet and good with a bit snow.
And when the snowing is really hard -- how often? -- you can use 'snow-chains' (whatever the word in english...) or have some sliding/gliding-fun
