Brake Pads
#1
I originally posted this on the miscellaneous BB and then realised this is the correct place for it:
I've booked my car in to Powerstation to have the bumpsteer sorted - Can't wait! I thought I'd get the brake pads changed at the same time. Can anyone recommend what replacement pads I should go for? Powerstation recommend Tarox, but I've seen a lot of talk on this site about Mintex pads? I want something that will work reasonably well on a track day, but not something that only works when hot (ie the wife still needs to be able to drive the car around town without having to keep her left foot on the brake pedal to heat the pads up!!!)
Any recommendations greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Rob

ProDrive have recently changed their pads from Mintex 1155 to Ferodo DS2000. I seem to recall one of the ProDrive guys explaining their decision in a very convincing way on this BB. What's good enough for ProDrive is good enough for me and I'm happy to pay a small premium for that peace of mind and unaffected warranty.
I've got a set and have to say they're excellent. They work from cold, don't squeal, and are not dusty. And they don't fade, either! I got them hot enough at Donington to warp and crack the standard discs, but the pads were fine.
The Powerstation bumsteer trick is my next mod, too.
