Loose pads in callipers

Hi,
My pads are rattling in my front callipers,most noticible when applying brakes in one direction, then the opposite. Pads look almost new. Mechanic said that they have an adhesive pad on outside when new to prevent this but mine has worn out, anyone got a solution, Thanks ROB
