OS Wheel Bearing and Seals Symptoms ?
Can anyone list the symptoms of an OS front Wheel Bearing problem ?
I have creaking and squealing from the front wheel when it's turned left or right. Its worse if its turned right. Discs and pads replaced and made no difference. In a straight line its perfect. No vibrations or juddering at any speed. Subaru have quoted £320 to replace the bearing and seals.
Any answers or info on similar experiences would be appreciated.
Thanks.

no track days

As this stopped fade, I have hammered the car for 4 months or more at 50 miles a day. This would be similar to a track day or two.
Are my symptoms right for loss of grease or knackered bearing ?
Thanks,

This is not normal for road use only
If you are running high performance pads this will create more friction thus creating more heat. The heat needs to go somewhere and this is normally the the bearing and hub. I would suggest in future you cool off the disks for a few miles before parking. Also do not leave your foot on the brake pedal when stopped, this could crack the disks. If you are getting the brakes this hot I wouldnt be suprised if the disks already have hairline fractures?

Can I purchase high temp grease or uprated bearings or similar to stop this happening again ? Could it be that it has gradually melted over the last 5 years and will last another 5 ?
Thanks.

Standard bearings will be fine
You can uprate the bearings but this is normally for track use. If a 5 year old car is driven hard for a long period of time, then the bearings will need replacing anyway. I would fit standard bearings and after a HARD RUN let the car cool down for a couple of miles.
