ABS & strange noise

Hi all . . .
Had the ABS cut in for the first time last night whilst doing some spirited driving and I noticed a strange noise ... not pulsing like I've seen mentioned here before but more like a constant tone a bit lower than a brake squeal. I doubled back and went over the same stretch of mud and could duplicate it again and it's the ABS for sure.
Any idea's, it's probably normal but I've never owned a car with ABS before and it's the 1st time since September I've had it cut in ...

My ABS usually kicks in when I'm braking and a wheel is placed over a wet drainage cover.
The noise that I get is similar to what you described. I was a little worried at first when I first experienced this grinding and hissing sound, but nothing to worry about. I hope
