Thumbs up

Just thought I'd let everyone know about a current offer at Halfords.

They have a 4 for the price of 3 offer on all Bridgestone tyres.
Their price for 215/40/17 So2 PP is £154 inc VAT. Not cheap on its own but £460 ish for 4 is the lowest price I have seen upto now.

I'm not sure if the price includes fitting/balancing though.

The offer is on at all Halfords which have a fitting bay.

My local Halfords just quoted me £435.34 for 4 Brigestone SO2 PP 205/50/16 fitted, valves and balanced, which works out at £108.84 per tyre. The nearest quote to this that I have is £125 all in.

My mate can do four 16" SO2's for £420 all in, all the time!
He brought his van to the track day at Donno, so if anyone's ever in the Northampton area and needs the best tyre deal call Mark or Malc on 01604 588599.
Tell him I sent you!

Stef.

Where did you get that Halfords price from?? I was quoted £193 per tyre for SO2 PP 215/40/17 by Halfords in Guildford today, so even with the 4 for 3 offer the price was £578 for four.

Nigel,
The price was from the Sheffield Halfords/Ripspeed.

Halfords recently bought the Ripspeed chain and have incorporated it into it's Halfords network.

I rang the lad in Sheffield specifically about this and he said that the 4 for 3 deal should be at all Halfords which have a garage.

The individual tyre price was about £154 which is a long way short of what you have been quoted.

I don't know why there is a difference, perhaps they have a different pricing policy for different areas of the country.

After all aren't you southerners supposed to be loads richer than us anyway?!?

Try ringing the Sheffield branch (01142551096) get a quote and use it as ammunition against the Guildford branch.

I paid £170 for two TOYO PROXES and they were 17 inchers for my last car. I presume this is quite good then !!!!

Are the Halfords tyres grey imports?

The reason I ask is that my local tyre dealer was told by the Bridgestone rep that there is a shortage of 205/50 R16 S02 PP's in the country and that the price I was quoted was less than cost.

I was a bit sceptical of this story until I bought the tyres and as the price was fed into the dealers computer the screen flashed with "warning, price quoted is less than cost".

My tyre dealer came within £2 of the Halfords price so they got my business as I trust them with my alloys. I've certainly never seen anyone in Halfords use a torque wrench on the wheel nuts.

Doc,
Haven't got a clue about whether the tyres are grey imports or not (and don't really care). The only price I got was for 215/40/17's and there doesn't seem to be a shortage on those.
