Cool

Hello Pete

Bridgestone S-02 pole positions.

Downside is that they are very sticky on a dry track and wear quickly other than that they are a great road tyre and on a wet track.

A lot of people on here swear by them.

Kind regards

Ben

Thanks for the reply Ben. Are they better in the wet than the standard tyres, which seem to be poor.

Pitbull,
OOHHH yes excellent in the wet, some will tell you they don't work in 16" on the Impreza, A lot of people are very happy with them though including me
Thry do need to be "run in" though, the first 100 miles they feel decididly strange, but after about 300-500 they are fantastic. Just don't expect any more than 15,000 miles, and if you drive like me more like 10,000 or less.

I've found Toyo Proxes T1S are great on 16" rims. They have a decently sturdy sidewall that seems better than the S02.

Definetely DONT buy Yokohama's if you want to keep your car on the road in the WET!

As Benny Boy said, Bridgestone SO2 PP's are the ones most people rate as the best!

I have got 17' P Zeros as dealer fit for ST2's but i will replace them with the S02 next time!

I have SO2's on 16" rims, 11,200 miles and still 4.0mm left. Alternate front to back every 3000 miles. I have 1.3 negative camber per side front and 1.1 negative camber per side rear with 1.0mm toe in total fron and rear (Prodrive settings)

Can confirm the"squirmy" feel to start with but it soon goes away. Tyre pressures very important on 16's ... I currently use 3.4 bar front and 3.3 bar rear to stiffen up the side walls. My driving is mixed, some M-way and a good mixture A & B roads, the mileage includes one track day at Castle Combe (Group B). I use the 300 plus horses that I have under the bonnet.

Grip superb in either wet or dry conditions.

Next best thing would be Goodyear F1's or maybe P-Zero's IMHO.

Interesting that I was just looking for info on tyres for 16" rims - everyone seems to be talking about 17" these days

Unfortunately my lease company dictates pirelli or dunlops and nothing else.
Can't complain really as I get them for nowt !

So Kwik-Fit have just fleeced my lease company for a smidge over £600 for 4 Pirelli P-zeros.
I did ask about the S02-PP..he said that lease companies dont use them simply because they are softer and don't last. He reckons the P-zeros are ok though.

We'll see...

Well it looks like it's the SO-2's then seen as though no-one is recommending anything else. Lee mines a company car too, I think you'll find they get a discount. I know we do, abouy 40% on the bosses 22B p-zero's.

Thank everyone for all the replies, much appreciated.

Hmmm, I got 18000 miles out of my set of S-02's ? no track days but they get driven hard on the road, never rotated them either, infact i still have the 2 rears, about 4mm of tread left, only reason i changed them was the front near side had been eaten alive by dodgy tracking

Ian,
What geometry were you running on your SO2's as I am now a student and would like to get more than 10,000 from this set
Tim Bomford can confirm how sha**ed my tyres were, maybe I just need to take more Valium

Got Toyo's on mine. Great for road use but seem to go off v. quickly on the track.
Bit of a bargain though. Don't know if the SO2s are worth the extra. I'll try 'em next. That or the Dunlop SP9000. Heard good things about those.

I must be doing something wrong! I thought I was hard on tyres, but I seem to be getting good mileage out of mine!

I had new Dunlop SP9000 205/45R17 fitted to my 17" Superturmiso wheels when I bought my car secondhand about 14,000 miles ago.

There still seems to be about 4-5mm left on them. At this rate I might be able to get about 25,000 miles out of one set of tyres!
