ABS warning light comes on over bumps
#1
Help,
I have a MY95, the ABS warning light comes on when the brakes are hot and I go over bumps. It goes out if you switch ignition off/on. Then it happens again next bump. It was happening all the time at the weekend, in Belgium, very hot weather, lots of bumps. The brakes seem to work OK, it's just the light, can anybody shed any light (pun intended) on this? Is it OK to just keep driving, or is there an underlying problem?
Any advice will be gratefully received.

Hi there,
Take it to a Subaru garage, get them to plug the Select box in, that will tell you what corner (and possibly the fault).
If its the front sensors, the connectors are inside the engine bay - against the inner wing- about 1.5 foot down on each side... theres only two wires from the sensors and they go into a snap-fit-locking plug/socket.
If its the backs, the plug/socket are located under the back seat (yep - you have to remove the base of the back seat).
While the ABS light is illuminated your ABS doesnt work - your brakes wills till work fine, just lock up if u bury the brake pedal.
A replacement sensor from a dealer is 100 quid, from a breaker about 35 quid
Cheers,
J.
