Default EBC DISCS AND NEW GREEN STUFF PADS

Just had the above lot finally fitted at prosport yesterday. Picked up today, and started the bed-in process with a little jaunt over the a54 from buxton to congleton, then back nice and steady along the twistys. Actually didn't mind getting stuck behind a slow driver or two for a change, as I needed to brake at every corner anyway
Obviously, it is way to early to say how good this setup is, I'll keep you informed.
Pictures, as they look quite good:

Rear

I think they look good mate. If your happy with the stopping power when bedded in, then thats all that matters.

I too have gone the godspeed route and will be fitting them tomorrow.

Have some fun and keep it rubber side down!!

Default ebc greenstuff pads

here at ebc we would recommend redstuff ceramic only for this car
see john felsteads report on redstuff ceramic
greenstuff is best for polo golf fiesta etc
we make the green because it fits the legacy which seem generally ok on green and impreza in the usa

I think its excellent to see companys like EBC taking a genuine interest in thier customers, thanks for getting in touch with me Bob from EBC.

Prosport in stockport, who fitted this setup, passed my moby number on to EBC after EBC saw this thread. Thier concern was me running GREEN STUFF pads on the back, but I have since spoke to Pete at Prosport and he was sure this setup is ok. His advice has always been:
very fast road/heavy track RED STUFF ALL ROUND
light cars/no track GREEN STUFF ALL ROUND
fast road/limited track RED FRONT, GREEN REAR.
he has had this confirmed by another member of staff at EBC.
So, whats it to be guys? If you want me to run RED STUFF all round, then supply the pads, as Pete can't get hold of any for another 2 weeks!!
As it stands now, the feel is just coming into the brakes, and they are beginning to show what they are capable of after 170+ miles so far.
Let me know what you think I should do, and advise Pete accordingly,
cheers,
chris.

UPDATE:
Spoke to Pete at prosport again today after reading the above reply.
It seems there was some confusion with pad colours and names. I am still awaiting a call from EBC's Leeds branch, who informed Pete that a guy there has an EVO with the same setup as me, red front, green rears with no problems!
Bob at EBC today said you shouldnt mix colours at all, and would like to see me on all reds!
You guys at EBC need to get this advice sorted one way or the other please, as like pete says, customer satisfaction is the most important thing, and if I have a doubt over my brakes, I cant be truly happy with them.
after just over 200 miles now, they are biting a lot better, and starting to come good, with great feel. I am slowly getting more confident in using them, but like I said, there is a doubt, which is not good!
Not heard anything from Leeds at the time of this post, so maybe you can chase them up with my moby number if you read this before you finish today at EBC HQ.

CHRIS.

LAST UPDATE:
Spoke to adam at EBC LEEDS, he confirmed that I should be running red stuff all round for 200+ bhp.
He sent a set of red stuff to prosport, pete kindly squeezed me in today for the fitting, thanks again pete.
Almost formula 1 style fitting on the pads today, top speed!
So, after over 400 miles on a mix of red and green, I'm now on red all round, and still have to bed the rears in, looks like I'll have to do some more miles eh? hehe.
The front brakes meanwhile are bedding in nicely, and apart from the first stop at the bottom of my road, (steep hill) they are beginning to come good, giving me more confidence to push into corners and brake later.
I'll keep you posted,
chris.

Strange, when I clicked on a banner at top of page for EBCdirect and searched for 94-96 2.0 Turbo Impreza it lists Green Stuff pads for front and rear, surely this is meaning peeps are out there ordering and fitting inappropriate pads? They think they have uprated the brakes when really they havent.
http://www.ebcbrakesdirect.com
There seems to be loads of confusion at EBC dealers, they say Green Stuff OK and EBC say its not, run Red Stuff. A friend of mine came across this a couple of weeks ago with his 2003 Civic Type R when the Greens stopped working after a week. EBC said fine, we will take them back and replace with Reds for free, your dealer will send them to us, the dealer had other ideas and told my mate where to go (my mate is in his 40's and not very knowledgeable). All sorted now by EBC employing big stick method of dealer control to get him to send the Greens back, he has now lost a customer.

Good to see you on here, but IMHO a bit of a qualification on the Legacy (yes, I know you included the careful "generally" bit) would be a good idea. Any of the turbo models with their pace (and weight) would seem to be candidates for immolation of the greens.

A briskly driven B4, for example, with 276hp and those weedy brakes would put a fair amount of energy into the pads... The early BC/BF Turbos would also fit in this category I think.

BTW, this is not an attack, just a suggestion

Cheers

We agree 200bhp+ or four wheel drive or turbo cars should be on redstuff
