Brake Prices - What the?
[rant mode]
Why is there such a massive gap in prices between the OE brakes and "slightly" uprated? There doesn't seem to be any middle ground.
Need all pads and discs changed prior to MOT in a months time (would have doing them anyway though). TMS have quoted me (for standard) £66.96 & £34.40 for front and rear discs and £40.16 & £24.30 for front and read pads - giving a grand total of £165.82.
The lowest non-standard setup I can find on the net is £337.49 using Black Diamond gear & £419.18 for Red Dot.
I don't really want to go for the standard gear, I always fancied a a nice set of grooved discs, and some stainless steel brake lines - but there's fat chance of that on a £300 budget!

Your OEM stuff sounds infeasibly cheap cheap to me. Even the bits for my AXGT would cost similar dosh.
Are you on 4pots or 2pots? If you could stretch to it, a godspeed conversion would make a big difference but that's probably 50-100% above your stated budget.
Jeremy.

I've got some prices here to add to the debate:
(Subaru prices are from IRS in Tokyo, I've not found UK dealers as quick, helpful or as cheap, even with the shipping and import hassle)
Subaru 294mm x 22mm disc (for Legacy GTB/Impreza STI/Forester etc): £50
Nipparts 294mm x 22mm disc (identical to above): £20
Subaru brake pad set for two pot calipers for 294mm disc: £35
Nipparts pad set (identical in all but name): £18

Messiah, no way are those standard OEM prices. I believe pretty much in the you get what you pay for theory, and you can't run a 150mph car on the cheap. Sorry

I won't argue with you - I'm not going to be putting those on, I also agree with the "you get what you pay for" line of thinking.
Never go for the cheapest cos it's a waste of money
Never for the most expensive cos it's a waste of money.
Tar-ox discs and ferodo pads for me I think...
