Default What tyres should I fit to match standard gearing?

I have a 97MY UK turbo on which the OE 15" wheels have been replaced with 16" MY00 alloys. At the moment I have 205/45s which seem to be over recording mileage by approx 5% (checked against sigma bicycle computer). Now, the diameter on the OE 15" wheels would be 587mm, on 16" wheels with 205/45s 591mm and with 205/50s 611mm, which would seem to make matters worse. To get an exact match to the OE spec would mean fitting 225/40 16s but these are not recommended on a 7" rim. So what's best to match the OE fitment? What would be the result, with regard to gearing, if 215/40s were fitted? BTW suspension is standard.

15" 205/55
16" 205/50
17" 205/45 or 215/40

All give roughly correct rolling radius
