Question Brake callipers - fairly urgent

I've just had one of the pistons in one of the front brake calipers on my 96 Legacy GTB seize - resulting in a trashed disc and disintegrated pads.

So I'm in fairly urgent need of some new calipers (I don't trust the other side either now), discs and pads.

I've got the part numbers for the Legacy parts - but I believe that the same discs, and similar calipers were fitted to Imprezas at some point, so might I be able to get suitable parts for a UK Legacy from somewhere in the UK? Otherwise I'll have to order the Legacy parts from Japan, and as IRS are on holiday until 15th Feb, I'll be without a car until the end of the month...

26291AC041 Front Brake Caliper RH
26291AC051 Front Brake Caliper LH
26300AE060 Front Brake Rotor
26296AE141 Front Brake Pad Set

Can anyone help me find suitable UK parts that'll do the job? I'm more bothered about getting the car working again than improving the braking.

Rich.

That might be very useful, thanks. Could you give me some idea of cost? One piston works fine, the other is very stiff to move in or out.

Also can you also source new discs and pads for the 294mm discs?

Thanks

Rich.

my front passenger side 2 pot caliper seized some time ago.
I replaced both calipers with newer ones.

The driver side 2 pot works well, if thats the side you need then you can have them for nothing?

Im not far from you either?

Excellent - yes it is the driver's side that's seized on mine, passenger side one seems fine. Although one piston is marginally easier to push in that the other.

I've been quoted £90 to recon my caliper, so if you really don't want yours, I'd gladly take it off you!

I've found some non-Subaru discs for £25+vat, and pads for £19+vat too, which might do the job

Things aren't looking so bad now

Drop me an email at rich@rtoc.org...

Thanks all for the help.

I'll be taking magnet's spare caliper (off a 93 Legacy Turbo) to see if it's the same as my 96 Legacy GTB. If not, I'll get the current ones reconditioned at a place I've found in Doncaster.

And I've got some Blueprint discs and pads on order.

Crisis averted...

Rich.
