Question

Does anyone get severe tramlining from their RE040's and has their cars handling improved massively one they swapped from them to another tyre??

Mine seem to be all over the place at the moment

I've found tramlining becomes more evident the more the tyres get worn. It would be interesting to know what tread you have left and know if the inner edge is on its way out.

There was another thread like this but can't do the link thing...

here what i wrote:
Sounds like good old Bridgstones...
Thought it was a problem on my BM with 225 S02 on so BMW checked it... no problem found. then when I got the scoob I swapped the wheels b4 delivery and they came with Pireli's, not traming no pulling this way and that... ACE.! put the original wheels back on for winter "Bridgstones" and hey spesto the thing follows every line in the road. The steering pulls this way and that and it gets worse as the tires have bedded in... Summer and the 182 P Zero's are going back on!
Basicly they do tramline, i had 5sets on my 330i and when i got the scoob it had the P-Zero's; put original wheels and Bridgies on and it was clear as night & day...
Feels at times like somone has hold of the wheeel. This wsa confirmed by a Autocar tyre test, they noted the tramming.

they do grip well though...
Pireli's are the best though.. came top in the Autocar yearly tyre test too.
hope this helps

Cheers Dazza. Exactly what mine are doing. Had the same thing with the original Re010's on my old MY00, changed tyres and it turned into a different car!

Mind you there's still a lot of tread on the Re040s. They drive fine in the dry but in the wet the car is like your old BM, steering going this way and that

Looks like a new set of boots required even though there's still about 4mm of tread left in them!!

On my classic the tramlining was brutal on SO3's, then diappeared (almost completely) on F1's then reared it's head again (to a lesser extent) on Toyo Proxes....

SiPie,

Does that mean that you've chosen not to go with the F1s again?
