Tyre Wear
#1
I have an '03 WRX with standard 17" wheels. I have always noticed that it tends to pull to the nearside. Thought it must be a characteristic of the car. After 12,000mls noticed excessive tyre wear and blistering on the outside shoulder of the nearside front tyre. Didn't seem right to me so I had the 4 wheel alignment checked, it was out and they adjusted it (I had to pay). Drove the car home it felt the same as before. Had the fronts and backs swapped, still felt the same. Had the alignment checked again-"within tolerance". The Dealer told me that it is normal to wear the outside of the front nearside tyre.
Is the pulling to the nearside/tracing the camber normal for a WRX?
Do other people have the same problem scrubbing the outside shoulder on the nearside front?

I'm sorta thinking that the wear is down to cornering. IE round abouts/traffic islands.
Seems that I always get this on any car I have.
As for the pulling, try driving on the other side of the road (wrong side), watch for cars coming the other way, to see if it pulls the other way due to the camber

12K and only one tyre bald - take the car back there's something wrong with it (Turbo not working or something like that )
Seriously answer - the outside edge of the nearside tyre takes all the load on roundabouts etc as pointed out before.
Dealers usually swap wheels front to back at each service to counteract this.
If your still on Bridgestones that came with the car then this could explain the pull - they tramline for fun !
I swapped from Bridgestone to Goodyear F1's and the tramlining disappeared.

Thanks guys, much appreciated. Obviously I like to "make progress" just as much as the next man but hadn't realised how the tyres wear unevenly. I had read in Autocar mag that the Bridgestones were the only tyre to use but will look around when I replace them now. Ta.
