Question

My 335mm brake discs have apparently warped, I have now measured a deflection of 6/100mm across the disc which seems to be giving me the problems I am experiencing with brake judder etc. I have been down to the Dreadnought Garage in Callander where we found that the Pro Cut Brake Lathe didnt fit across this width of disc. The next step is to have the discs skimmed off the car, so has anyone any recommendations for a company around Perthshire that could carry out this work to a satisfactory standard? Anyone had their discs skimmed? any help greatfully received. :-)

Skimming a disk is, IMHO, a complete waste of time - they'll just warp again in my experience.

It depends what is wrong with them , as you have had them on nearly 2 years it could be a number of things , check for rust buil up either between the hub face and bell , or even the discs and bell as this will cause the disc not to sit properly and will give you symptoms of a warped disc

I have replied to your email

Cheers Ian

Thumbs up

Thanks Ian and Richard,

I have already taken the disc off and cleaned up the back etc. The problem would therefore seem to be either warping or uneven wear on the disc, due to car sitting for long periods unused and rust forming between disc and pad.

Think ill just give you a phone ian and order a set of new discs. I might get the old set skimmed then as a backup set.

Cheers

Greg
