Is it OK to use 215/40/17 tyres on 7.5" wheels?

Question

Simple as that really.

Apart from the rim being more exposed than it would be on a 7" wheel is there anything else to consider?

I thought my OE 17" '01 wheels were 7.5"?
If they are, that's the tyre size I use.

Shouldn't be a problem.

Think 215 section tyres can handle rims between 7 and 8 inches wide.

UK STI's with 7.5x17 runs 225 section tyres.
