Suggest that the best way to avoid that would be to not aim the car at buildings.
As for better brakes, what car are you talking about, a turbo, Sport/GL, UK/Jap car, what?
In most of these cases, the most cost-efficient upgrade is probably the 294mm four pot front brake setup, which was standard on most of the JDM STi's, and fitted to UK spec Turbos from MY99 onwards. More than a few of these around secondhand.
