HELP CANT GET ME DISCS OFF

How do you slacken off the rear shoes, i cant get the rear discs off cos the shoes are binding on the inner. spent the last 6 hours trying but to no avail, any magic tips or do i get the angle grinder out!!

apple - i own a land rover so dont know what a handbrake is, land rover one dont do anything!! ha ha

ian - cheers looked at the diagram, tried to loosen the adjuster but wont have it, what way do you turn it to loosen, anti clockwise when viewed from the rear? got a massive pile of rust and dust, )1/2 a mug full) dont think the discs have ever been off (97 model) it has been binding for a while but when i had it serviced £500) they said they were ok - me thinks not.

they are changed, the adjusters where seized up. Original discs as well by the looks of em.
