Question

Is this one of those jap only tyres, leaving us with nothing better? This tyre by the sounds is the spiritual replacement for the SO2 PP, does anyone know anyone who supplies these or the RE720 (i think thats right).

SO3's PP are the tyres to get if you can't get hold of the RE070.
The SO3's are way better than the O2's, harder wearing with rock solid tyre walls, Z rated!!

RE070's are custom for the STi9's only in Japan, it is possible to get them but only from Japan, certainly not in Europe, they are great in the dry but definately "interesting" in the wet also the wear rate is high, mine are over half gone and on less than 6000 miles.
SO3's are adequate in my view but not a patch on the SO2, I would rate Eagle F1's above them.

cheers

We get the RE070's on our Ver8 in the states... (well, I guess it's the Ver1 to us) I think it's because we get the Spec C wheels standard...

Hiya Bob,
As im about to purchase a spec c (03) and it comes with the RE070 tyres, is it worth just running with those until they wear or replace them with something a little less interesting in the wet
My MY00 at the moment has SO2 PP's on which i find are brilliant, wet or dry and would like something similar.
Also, remapping the ecu to run uk fuel.... as peformance gains are not my biggest concern (i feel over 300bhp is pretty good for the moment ) is this a good idea to start with or just run sul+octane booster with a knocklink?

Tony.

I asked Bob this very same question not that long ago funnily enough. He said run the car in for 2-3k with Optimax and Octane booster before remapping to give everything a chance to loosen up.
