Does anyone know anything good or bad about WANLI tyres in particular Wanli s1099's 215/45/17's as I am considering buying some because they are cheap.
I guess they are not fantastic but they are made (I think) by Yokohama and are cheap.
Thanks.
Jeffrey

Starship Impreza was running them at the Pod at the weekend!
He rates them so far in the dry but hasn't had any rain to see what their wet performance is like.

I know some drift lovers who buy them because they are tough enough for abuse but lack grip thus giving fun if you're a drifter and want to show on airstrips....
If you want tyres that gives you grip under all daily circumstances this is not your choice ..

The old front tyres on my mondeo were a budget tyre by pirelli, all i will say about budget tyres is dont shove them on performance cars, you will end up either dead or in a hedge (the ones on my mondeo sucked big style btw).
If you have a performance car, then use proper performance tyres, these are the things that connect your 8k's worth of car to the road, they help you stop (traction), they give you grip, so why skip on decent ones?
(thus the reason my tyres cost 120 quid each
but they are the best
)
Look at the likes of Toyo for tyres, good balance of all round ability, a slightly higher wear factor but well priced in most cases (around 75 quid each).
A car round a tree is worth nothing to you
but an extra 100 quid would have kept you on the road..... (work that one out
)

Recently replaced a set of OEM Bridgestones on my MY02 for a set of budget Federal's. Read a couple of reviews for them where they performed well and I honestly can say I rate them better than the ones that were supplied from the factory (for my driving etc, no track days unfortunately). Tramlining is gone completely for example.
They have good grip in the dry and wet but then again I don't really push it so don't expect to be in a hedge.
Based on other peoples postings the Toyo's always come out well as do the Goodyear F1's.
