Changing STi8 standard 17" to 18"
#1
I'm looking into changing my standard 17" for 18" wheels (probably a choice between speedline, OZ or rays). I would appreciate any useful information on the best type of tyres to use when using 18" wheels.
I am currently using the standard Bridgestone RE070 tyres on the 17" and have no complaints about these except that they seem to wear quicker than I'd like.
Cheers!

I went for Speedline Turini's (they look good & easily cope with 6-pot AP's underneath).
Tyre wise, I went for Toyo's which I've always been happy with, but they don't seem anywhere near as grippy as the RE070's which were on my 17" wheels originally! Perhaps I just need to wear them in more (although they've done 1K miles at least now).

How soon are you looking to buy the new wheels?
I'm in desperate need of 4 new alloys, perhaps we can do a deal if you want to sell them to finance the new ones.
Not fussed about the tyres, but the wheels must be mint.

Just put Turini's on my sti8 2 days ago, i had yokohama's put on and my feeling is they dont grip as well, allthough not pushed them yet, but i will say they are a much better ride so the wife has stopped moaning so much as she drives it most. I think they look stunning.

Danny - sorry I'm looking at keeping the 17" originals in case I am not happy with the new alloys (they're not scratched but need a little cleaning)
hmmmm...as I thought, the RE070 are probably the best set of tyres and to find a similar performing set in 18" will be difficult ...sigh

I've been running P Zero Nero's for the past 3,000 miles and I'm very happy with them. More grip, better turn in and steering feel and a slightly better ride as well. I've not yet got to their limit but they seem pretty progressive so far.
