I know I should be in Wheels/Tyres but was hoping for a quick response.
Just ordered a set of Federal 215/45/17's for my Scoob and noticed they are V rated yet the Bridgestone on it are W rated. I assume this is not good?
V rating from what I can see are good for 150MPH with W good for 168MPH, neither of which I will see in my car but I hear insurance stories of issues with under rated tyres?
Should I send these back? (if they will take them?)
Booked in for fitting this afternoon.
Thanks
Richard.

I wouldnt have thought there was a problem, given the fact that even 150 is over the "manufacturer listed" top speed of your car. So unless somewhere in the policy it says exactly what tyres your supposed to have i wouldnt worry too much.
P.S. even though the car would probably do slightly over 150, as you say your never going to reach that speed then it should be absolutely fine!

Yeah, I was justifying it to myself that there probably would only be a problem if an accident could be attributed to the tyres at a speed above 150MPH, given the amount of traffic on the M6 when I'm off to work I don't think it will be a problem.
Cheers.

Speed ratings can be confusing.
Are there any other smaller letters after the usual 215/45/17V etc. The ZR's on some makes of tyres are much smaller and actually have a W or Y in the main tyres info.
A good tyre depot will explain how this flawed rating system works
