Unhappy

mods - please can you leave here for a while.

i am trying to fit a set of brembo calipers and discs from the recent group buy. everything has gone ok except that there are a couple of metal 'lugs' that protrude from the inside of the caliper that are rubbing on the discs. the inside pad seems to be pushed all the way back and the outer one has a couple of millimetres between it and the caliper. i have checked and, as far as i can see, everything is fitted correctly etc.

does anyone have any ideas whats wrong?

Total stab in the dark !! but you have got the corresponding side caliper on the correct side of the car ? (or is this not possible ?) Sorry if this does not help. could it be upside down. ?

i sure they're on the right way but i don't think it would make a difference anyway, the caliper would still be the same distance from the discs.

thanks anyway.

As said before you need to take the shield off and the bracket goes on the back of the strut and bolts from the front have you got it like that?

Wink

Try clicking on these to see the pics (seeing as though fotopic has exceeded its bandwidth again )

Bugger, that still doesn't work. However, if you copy the link url and paste it into the address part of the browser and hit return, it should show you the pic (hopefully).

first of all thanks very much to everyone that helped.

the bracket is on so the holes that the caliper bolts to are further inwards.

from what i can see i think the caliper is too far outwards. i've done some measurements and the disc is 28mm, the space between the pads is 28mm and the space between the metal lugs is 30mm. there's 2mm of room between the outer edge of the disc and the outer lug so obviously 0mm of room on the inner. i'm going to get a 1mm spacer tomorrow to put on the caliper bracket to move it 1mm inwards and see if that helps. if it doesn't work keep your eyes open in the for sale for an unfinished project!

i'll post what happens on this thread tomorrow for anyone that's interested.

thanks again.

is there washers with the bolts, i think on mine i used them as the spacers, betwean tha mopunt and the alloy spacer rather then putting the washer under the bolt.

s.b. - i'm sure the calipers are on the right sides of the car, although i did have to swap the bleed valve from one end of the caliper to the other so the disc rotates into the caliper in the correct directon and also the bleed valve is at the top as stated in the manual.

bah - the bolts that hold the re-location brackets in place do have washers on them (1mm thick). i'll get hold of 4 more of them tomorrow and like i said before hopefully that will sort it.

i have spoken to red dot racing today and they said that they have had to use 1mm spacers on some imprezas before. i've got hold of some so hopefully it will sort it out.

i've been meaning to post some pics of my car came since it came out of the bodyshop so i'll try and do it later with the brakes on.
