4wd Alignment - Tyre Wear Front Outer - Fast and Excessive - MK
#1
Hi,
I am from Milton Keynes and make the most of our dual-carriageway, uncamerad roads and round-abouts going flat out most places. Also do 40 miles of clear country roads each day too. (MY99 with HKS SuperDragger Exst).
After just 3k miles, my brand new 205 50 16 Z Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 Tyres wear on the near side inner front a bit(as usual), but go bald on the outer edge on the same wheel.
I have put the front wheels on the back and changed tyres 3 times now, but still they go bald at the same speed in the same place.
Can it be the roundabouts and rough country lane roads doing this?
Anyone had a similar thing that lives (or does not live) in MK ?
Subaru are putting it on the ir pro-alyne 800 thing to check the 4wd alignment. Is it worth having this done ? Can allignment cause this ?
Thanks for any responses in advance.

Hi mate, have same problem on mine a MY98,it went in for service at my local motorsport garage and they told me the droplinks are worn out.Have purchased TSL upgraded rear's and powerflex front bushes all supplied by them for £134.00 to my door.Only just got them so not fitted yet to see result's.Anyway to cut this long story short,i noticed on the box it tells you worn out bushes can contribute to excessive tyre wear due to incorrect tracking angles under braking.
Just thought this might be of interest...

Thanks for that. I will get Subaru to check the droplinks too.
Please post an update if you can.
I would not be surprised if MK is causing the problems, I definitly do not slow down at any roundabouts...we shall see.
Cheers.
