I have grooved standard size discs and DS2000 pads on my MY98 turbo, with the standard 2 pots.
I obviously want to upgrade, as they just aren't good enough, and see my options as:
1. Better discs and pads
2. Bigger discs, retain calipers with extensions
3. 4 pot MY99 calipers (do these fit over the standard size discs?)
4. Aftermarket 4 pots
I haven't put 6 pots as I don't think I can afford it, as I need to do this on a budget - so what's the best way forward?
I am guessing that I should look out for some 2nd hand MY99/P1 calipers - if so, how much am I looking at, and what do I need to look out for?
Also, is it worth, when I upgrade, using braided lines and DOT5?

I upgraded the brakes on my MY98 this way, and it made a huge difference. If you're on a budget as I was, pick up a second hand set of 4 pots with the discs and pads that come with them, and while you're at it, get hold of a set of braided steel brake lines (about £60 new ?) and DOT5.1 fluid. This should give you a significant improvement over standard 2 pots.
When these discs/pads expire, or when you can afford it, use some higher spec discs and pads - I'm on a budget and I've just put on Black Diamond discs with Mintex 1155 pads all round, which is a pretty good combination.
