Got my first MOT coming up in Sept, I have Bridgestone Potenza 225x65x17" on and they are looking a little worn arond the outside/inside of the tread, all 4 of them, my scoob has 28k on from new, how long are these tyres ment to last? I have 30psi in them is this correct? How much will it cost to replace them? Can anyone recommend a better wearing tyre if i have to replace them.

The original Potenzas that came with my MY00 lasted 8500 miles
I'd be chuffed to bits to get 28000 miles from any set of tyres on a Scoob.
You could try Toyo Proxies as they lasted a bit longer on mine- about 10000.

Cheers PeteT,
Did'nt realise that they ONLY lasted 8.5k , 28k must be so sort of record? No wonder you say your from petrol stations and tyre fitters, could understand the petrol but not the tyres bit at first , now i do!!!!!!!!

Big Red,
I do very little motorway driving (which is very easy on tyres) and lots of thrashing around 'the twisties' (which isn't !) which explains why I get invited on my local tyre fitter's staff outing !!

got 9,000 miles out of my Potenza S02's..... on my sport!
Scraping 7,000 out of my Toyo's on my STI..
28,000 is lunar milage from a set... you are into 1.1 eurobox territory there...(on the rears)!

From having my Scooby new, I got 15K on my left hand Potenzas, and 23K on the right!!!
Getting even wear on the Firestones, and still going strong with the car's mileage up to about 38K (although admittedly I have been doing more motorway type miles than when I first got the car...... Paid £106 each last time..........

It don't snow a lot in Nottingham, and i don't keep the revs below 2000RPM neither, and don't bother with the juice guage, theres plenty of twisty-turny roads around nottinghamshire/derbyshire so these tyres have had some stick, got MOT soon and 3 years service all together so expecting a huge bill shortly. Also on the last service the Subaru machanic reported that the back box was corroding , so expecting that to probably need replacing with the MOT. HELP MR BANK MANAGER PLEASE!!!!!!

Got about 7000 miles out of my SO2'S front left is almost bald on the outer edge (to much right foot at big roundabouts I think!)
The back ones still have life left.
Good tyres though did a good job on track.

My Potenza S02s lasted 7000miles! The P-zeros I have now are worn half way and have done 5000miles. The Bridgestones were better in the wet but they are about even in the dry.
Glad its not just me then!

When I got my Turbo, it had 4 P6000s (not the best). 17k later, the fronts were worn, and replaced with SO3s. Another 10k later, all 4 need replacing, but the SO3s are more worn than the P6000s!
I'll try F1s next time, they've lasted more than 24k on my wife's Civic VTi.

My 52 WRX has 11K and still got plenty of life in the Bridgestones.
I've had F1's on my VTS (I know we all have our crosses to bear!!), they were the best tyre ever for grip but they do wear quickly.
I had to buy a Bridgestone at about 3K following a puncture, it was about £110.
As for your back box corroding looks like that is gonna cost ya - I mean there really isn't any point in putting another steel one on it is there!!!!
