halfords do it in red/yellow /blue,but not in black which is what i want.

they do 'high temp paint' in black but i'm sceptical if this is upto the job bearing in mind the corrosive properties of brake dust etc...

Thumbs up

According to a VERY good source, almost any paint will do.
I've had experience of car cellulose enamel, high temperature engine lacquer, and Hammerite smooth, (Smoothrite).
All lasted approx the same time, the Hammerite looked best, but needs a special thinners to clean the brush (unless you have access to xylene?), which adds to the cost.
Smoothrite can be had in LOADS of colours now, and costs about £5 for enough to do all 4 calipers at least 4 coats! (A small tin, 250ml??)
I usually give mine two...........one of the benifits of Smoothrite is that it dries so quickly. You can recoat in the time taken to go inside, and make a cup of tea, then drink it:

I bought (from Halfords) a tin of high temperature paint (600 degress or higher i think) in Satin Black

When painting my callipers they looked quite cool, all shiny and black, till the paint dried, it has dried a dark grey, but it isnt that different to how the callipers would have looked brand new

done about 10k miles since I painted em, and they still look like new

cost about a fiver for the paint

I've gone and bought some high temp engine enamel in satin black for £4.99 .Halfords do their own calliper paint ,but not in black which seems a bit crazy.

£20 for the foliotech stuff is a bit expensive just to paint my two front calipers.

thanks for the input

steve

OK, so how have people gone about applying this paint ? Do you remove the calipers to paint them, or do them on the car ? This may be an obvious question, but mine are looking very tatty and I wish to clean them up a bit, but don't know if I can be arsed taking them off to do it ! Call me lazy if you want....

My calipers are in good condition apart from the finish,so a good wash with brake cleaner then out with paint and brush done in situ, then leave for a good 24hr
