If I brake over 50 mph, I get judder through the steering wheel. Also noticed when on a straight road, the steering wheel is facing about 10 degrees to the right. I get a droning under hard braking, which sounds like maybe a disc is warped? I plan on getting new ones anyway, so not a problem.
Is this just bad alignment?
Sounds fine when cornering, from a CV / beairing point of view.
Any ideas?

I dunno eh, some people have a car for five bloomin minutes and they start wrecking it, sounds like you've used them a tad hard mate!!
Mind you, the drone could just be the pads, but the vibration sounds like the start of a warp!!

with the wheel offset & the vibration thro' the steering wheel sounds more like you've got a wheel balancing issue ..... poss. caused by losing a weight when you've hit a pot hole and knocked the alignment out???

Thanks all,
Stockcar, I only picked it up the other day and found it handles better than my previous MY99. I was a bit enthusiastic on a 60mph roundabout, and contacted the front wheel I turned it in sharp and it responded a bit too well. Feels like it has a quick rack!
Balance weights are on the outside on the wheels on this car, so may have popped one off.
Ron, need 17's but if I get desparate, ill put in an offer
Goon, was going to try the XChurch place, bit pricey tho.

If the vibration is only under braking its unlikely to be wheel balance - that's normally just dependent on road speed. It's less likely to be a warped disc and more likely to be uneven build-up of pad material on the discs (hence the question about black smears). I had this problem recently, and if you do a search on shudder or judder you should find a few posts with some solutions ranging from bedding them in again to actually having the discs reground... There's a very good link somewhere to a site which explains this all very clearly...
The steering wheel offset is a tracking issue , and could just mean that although the tracking is fine, the left and right track rods aren't adjusted the same - you need to have them adjusted by then same (opposite) amounts to pull the steering wheel straight when the wheels are pointed dead ahead.
