I've got a MY98 Terzo and had the standard brakes changed for AP discs and calipers (the ones with chequered flags on them) but still on the standard 16" wheels.

I've got Ferodo DS2500 pads fitted and although there's plenty of pad left, as it's worn down the edge of the backing for the pad is catching on the hub of the wheel and has started to score it.

Have I just fitted the wrong pads or is there some other problem?

If it's the wrong pads, any suggestions for replacements?

depending on the exact caliper you have, there will normally be two different depths of pad for different applications.......therefore, you obviously have the wrong pad fitted!!
did you buy discs/ caliper/ pads as a kit or have you replaced the pads at some point??

Alyn

Thanks for the reply

The brakes were bought second hand but didn't originally have Ferodos fitted...I fitted these afterwards

Don't know the exact type of caliper as I didn't buy them new...is there an easy way of checking which pads I need?

Cheers

Bas, the AP 16in kit requires shorter radius pads for exactly the reason you've discovered. The person you bought them off should have told you. From memory, radius is 43mm (down from 46mm? Need to check the catalogue). Don't drive the car with wrong-size pads.

You must obviously get the right size pads, but the only difference will be that they've had a few mm cut off the inside edge. Phone AP Racing - they're very helpful.

So as not to waste money, you can sell the pads you have to someone with a 4-pot kit for 17in wheels.

Good luck,

Richard.

the caliper should have a "code" etched on it.......failing that then fax / email the pad shape to me (just draw round it!!) and i should be able to sort from that!!
