I have just bought a new Feb 01 P1, it is completely standard. In some reviews people have complained about the standard brakes, does anyone hava an opinion on if its worth the £2K to upgrade these ?

Anyone know the cheapest place for the upgrade ? is it best just to go to the official Scooby Garages ?

I quite like the P1 brakes but some people have upgraded to the TSL 6 pots.

I wouldnt buy them for a scooby dealership. I think the Ap 4 pots and 6 pots are quite nice and are meant to be really good and they are around £1500 to £1800.

Personally I feel the std P1 brakes arent powerful enough - certainly if u fancy doing any track days!! I upgraded to the AP 4 pot kit on the P1 and think they are fantastic. The Alcons (Prodrive) kit is good but you do hear of people who fell a little disappionted with them! Also they r expensive when it comes to replacing discs as u will need to replace the bells as well (total cost approx £800!! vs AP's discs only for about £300).

Unfortunately the P1 will be going soon so I may well have a set of nearly new AP's for sale for a lot less than the price of a new set if u r interested

I never had a problem with the standard Subaru 4pots & PagidBlue pads on the road. But on the track they are crap and will boil fluid within a few laps. They are made of steel and do not have very good cooling anyway.

I went for the TSL/HiSpec 6pots and they are excellent. Zero fade or boil after a serious hammering at Cadwell (with all its hills).

ALL of the upgrades to alloy 4/6pots are waaaay better than the standard iron subaru kit. Everyone has their favourites but the Prodrive upgrade Alcon kit is as Glenn_r says very expensive for replacement parts.

Thanks guys for the feedback, I am currently thinking about taking my new toy out on a few track days, and would like to get prepared before venturing out.

General feeling seems to be for the TSL 6 pots will investigate and report - many thanks Marc, Glenn and Money !
