I know this is probably the most asked question in the world but do I upgrade my MY99 with 17's or 18's. Obviously 18's look better but are they going to reck the handling etc. and give off loads of road noise? Are 18's going to rub if I use 215/35 tyres?

Well phil. I got a set of 18" oz Prodrives with Toyo Proxi 215x35s and IMHO the handling had deteriorated somewhat So ive just sold them on after a fortnight. Now got my old 17" OZ super Ts refurbished with goodyear F1 gsd3s. Back to bliss......

I had 17s on 215/40s (oz Super leggeras) on mine and they were nice. I heard loads of people say dont go for 18s as they bugger up the handling. Ive now got Prodrive Gold PFF7s in 225/40s (pirellis) and the handling is still fine. i think in some corners the handling actually feels better than the 17s. Dont ask me why but to me it does!! lol

Really glad you like them Al.
I guess its all down to personal preference and car setup. many of the roads I drive on are pretty sh*tty and felt handling and grip were being compromised by the profile and the fact that the 215x35s over the 18x8"rim was slightly stretching them a bit, causing less flex in the sidewall and producing sideways skip on bumpier roads with less tyre contact as a result.
But then Even my 17"s are a compromise. It seems to be what ever your cars used for. Have to say the 18s do look good but i've found out the hard way about their suitability to my driving.
